About Mediaboot

Mediaboot Productions Inc. is a New Media freelancing entity started in 2001 by Randy Horton.

Randy Horton is a new media professional with over 15 years experience in the design, management, development and implementation of network based projects. As a new media producer, he has lead the design and development of a number of enterprise-level projects for organizations like The Globe and Mail, The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Kaboose.com, Ryerson University and most recently The Canadian Film Center as their Technical Implementation Specialist. Mr. Horton has extensive information technology and database experience using object oriented methodologies for the web, intranets and network based projects.

As a new media artist Randy is also well versed in video, animation and multimedia software including Flash, Adobe Premiere, Director, Image Ready, Blender 3D and related applications.

He has developed various hybrid media technologies within his art practice, including works that enable tele-presence and Artificial Intelligent Systems (AIS).

He has operated as a freelance consultant for his company Mediaboot Inc, established in 2001. Using agile project management and deployment methodologies Mediaboot offers to design firms, commercial businesses, Web hosting companies and not-for-profit organizations.

Mr. Horton holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in New Media (honors) from Ryerson University, is a certified agile project manager using the SCRUM methodology, a Microsoft Certified Professional, A Microsoft Certified Development Partner and is currently working toward his Masters of Fine Arts degree in Documentary Media at Ryerson University. As a project leader, Randy Horton has lead teams ranging from 3 to 20 members. He has been responsible for the successful completion and management of project budgets ranging from $25,000.00 to excesses over $3 million. His track record for success began as a Creative Director for PointCast, a pioneer company in network distribution of news and advertising established in 1993. The PointCast “push” model was the first of its kind, and is still being emulated today. Other success stories include organizations like The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, CIBC, Trimark Investments, and most notably The Globe and Mail Web Suite - where he was a senior project member in both 1995 and 2006 where he lead the implementation of GlobeInvestor.com, Gobefund.com, GlobeAuto.com and TheGlobeAndMail.com. In 2007 Mr. Horton was a key player in the design, development and implementation of the first family friendly search engine – Kaboose.com – where he was the senior business analyst and project manager.
